Principle 1. Subjects Expression: This is a self portrait of Erin. She looks relaxed and like she is having fun taking the picture. Maybe someone said a joke maybe she just has a nice smile! Maybe it is a Candid shot nevertheless its a nice picture!
Principle 2. Black and White: I think that this a picture for her profile of some sort. Therefore it is in black and white. A lot of portraits are in black and white to add affects and to make it different than just normal picture. The photo was taken recent so the photographer had an option of normal or black and white.
Principle 3. Obvious Main subject: Obviously the main subject is Erin. She fits in the whole picture right in the center of it. It is only half of her body so the camera would need to zoom out to fit her whole body.
Why I chose this image: I chose the image because Erin looks happy. There were other pictures and portraits of Erin but I picked this one because she was laughing and looked happy. It was also black and white so it added more affect.
Erin Trieb is an American women Photojournalist who was born and Grew up in Dallas Texas. In college she fell in love with photojournalism and, "earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in photography from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2004." She began her career working all over the world in such places as Israel and the Palestinian Territories and also freelancing for newspapers in Texas. In her work she likes to focus on social driven issues such as cultural identity, trauma from war, and feminism. She has worked for many major and big companies "including The New York Times, ESPN Magazine, Rolling Stone, NBCnews.com, Newsweek, TIME Magazine, Harper’s, Playboy, and many others.
Erin ties in great with the topic and subject of discussion because a lot of her work is about women's rights and feminism. This isn't only about talking about her main job photojournalism. She has started up page to raise money for a movie that she will be creating in Afghanistan about women's rights and how they are very minimal and women still to this day are living in the "Dark". This movie will try and raise awareness to women's rights in Afghanistan and all around the world. The Movie is still being made and shot and will be called an uphill battle, "A documentary about Afghanistan’s first team of female mountaineers, who plan to climb and summit Afghanistan’s highest mountain."
Not only in Afghanistan do women face discrimination. Women face discrimination all over the world and in the United States to this day. As much as we say "Everyone is equal", is that really true? Since I play a sport, I want to look at women's vs mens sports, specifically the pay. I really believe there is such a big fluctuation between pay between mens and women's sports. I get that mens sports generates more revenue and more fans to games but something needs to be said about the pay that happens between male and female sports.
In sports the pay between male and female is not even comparable. If you take a look at the salaries "in team sports the top WNBA player last year made $117k, compared to the NBA where top earner took home $34 million." Although women in independent sports such as golf or tennis make significantly much more, team sports for women are making close to nothing. The Salary cap for the highest women's soft pitch team last year was $175k split between the team compared to the Red Sox the male counterpart that will split $227 million this year.

Principle 1. Quality of light: The light is dim. Might be because it is in black and white but nevertheless it is a dim picture. Could be because it is a cloudy day.
Principle 2. Keep it simple: The photographer kept it simple as it is just the person skiing and the sky. Really neat picture. As it is a simple picture it was probably very hard to take and took several tries.
Principle 3. What feelings does the image create: This image makes me want to go skiing. I love skiing and miss it a lot but I do not get to go anymore due to hockey. It also makes me want to try something new and try and go out of my comfort zone as this person is doing in this picture.
Why I chose this picture: I chose this because the person that is skiing is going out of there comfort zone and taking a risk. I also really like this picture because its just the sky and the person skiing. Overall really cool picture.

Principle 1. Use of lines: In this picture there is a bunch of lines that make the picture up. Some are straight, and some are curved. But all of these lines come together in the top of the picture to make trees.
Principle 2. Does it remind you of different artwork: Not as much artwork comes to mind as the show "Earth" on Netflix. There is a scene when they are talking about the Tundra where the camera fly's overhead. This looks Just like that.
Principle 3. Depth of field: This picture is a perfect example of depth of field. It starts off with a few trees in the front of the picture then towards the back of the picture many more trees fill in. Picture was taken from above which allows this to happen.
Why I chose this picture: I really like the all white pictures filled with snow on the ground. It is a very peaceful picture. Looks like in the middle of winter and winter is my favorite season. Cool picture!
